"Annual Adoption Day" at the Albuquerque Zoo

The First Annual “Adoption Day” will be held this year in June at the Albuquerque Zoo and Biological Park as a day to applaud the opportunities to love and adopt a child in need of a loving home. Children who have recently been adopted and foster children will be treated to a unique “back stage” event at the Zoo, to see how our zoo operates, to have a special experience with the animals, and to meet the Mayor.

As you may know, Amy and I are adoptive parents, so this issue is very personal to us.

The experience of the “Adoption Day” at the Albuquerque Zoo will also highlight the joy and satisfaction associated with opening one’s home to an adoptive or foster a child in need of love.

Many children in our city are desperate for a loving home, and Amy and I believe events like “Adoption Day” will honor those who have adopted a child in need, and also help to raise awareness of children who urgently need a forever home.

The Harris Family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Children, Youth and Families Department and to Mayor Chavez for helping promote this critical cause, and for all the other sponsors of this event.

They help support adoptive families, and highlight a rewarding solution to a heart-rending problem in our community.

We are working to make this an annual event.
